Vaspurakan

“Land of Princes", this vast principality and then kingdom before becoming a Byzantine province, constituted historic Armenia from the 11th to the 17th century. It extended from Lake Van, in today’s Turkey, to the shores of Lake Urmia in today's Iran. The territory of what was Vaspurakan is mainly in Eastern Turkey, in the southeast of today's Armenia.
