Porcelain

Porcelain is a hard paste ceramic. It is obtained from a mixture of kaolin (50%), a small amount of clay, feldspar (25%) and quartz (25%), fired at 950°C the first time and a second time between 1,300°C and 1,400°C (paste and glaze firing).
Thanks to the kaolin, porcelain keeps its white colour after firing. At 1400°C, the porcelain reaches the vitrification stage, which gives it great mechanical and thermal resistance. Porcelain is not porous and translucid if thin.
