Lake Sevan

The lake Sevan, or sea of Gegham in Antiquity, or Gokcha in Turkish, is the biggest lake in Armenia, a real internal sea of an area of 1400km2. It is one of the largest high altitude lakes in the world. It is located in the province of Gegharkunik, in the east of Armenia. It is fed by 28 rivers, and from it flows the Hrazdan which joins the Aras. Together with Lake Van and Lake Urmia, it is one of the three great lakes of the ancient kingdom of Armenia, referred to as the ""Seas of Armenia"".
This lake serves as a natural reservoir and is located at an altitude of 1,898 meters.
