Grigor Magistros Pahlavuni (985-1059)

An 11th century lawyer and scholar, whose letters are a source of information on theology, literature, grammar and mythology. He composed the rhyming Bible around the year 1050.
The son of Prince Vassak Pahlavuni, he was also a politician. After the fall of Ani, he became governor general of the province of Edessa and was given the title of Magistros from Byzantine emperor Constantine Monomachus. His fief was established at the fortress of Amberd. Several Catholicos of Cilician Armenia came from his family.
While staying in Constantinople in 1045, he had a dispute with Muslim scholar Manuchar, the winner of poetry competitions, on the literary merits of the Bible and the Koran.
